Back in 2019, a team of Data Science for Social Good (DSSG) fellows partnered with the City of Surrey to analyze multiple datasets, with the goal of enhancing the City's understanding of key vehicle stock, demographic trends, and sociotechnical factors -- contributing to broader efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Fast forward to 2025 -- last week, team representative Eugenie Lai presented their work at the 6th International Workshop on Data-Driven Smart Cities, held during the 41st IEEE International Conference on Data Engineering in Hong Kong. Eugenie is currently pursuing her PhD at MIT, and we're excited to see where her research and impact will lead next!
